“Together, participants reflected on the meaning of self-worth and sisterhood—embracing the truth that when one girl rises, we all rise.” - Founder Dawn Price
Big Character Energy
On October 11th, The Sophia Project proudly hosted the 3rd Annual St. Louis International Day of the Girl, joining a global movement that celebrates girls everywhere and champions policies that protect their rights and potential.
This year, more than 300 students from schools across the St. Louis metropolitan area—including Brittany Woods Middle School, Ladue Middle and High School, Webster Groves High School, Lift for Life Academy Middle School, Confluence Academy–Grand Arts Middle and High School, Confluence Academy–Old North, Confluence Academy–South City, and Momentum Academy—came together for a half-day conference centered on character development, confidence, and self-advocacy.
The event provided an empowering space for young women to speak up for their needs, dreams, and boundaries—while connecting with peers and mentors who champion their growth.
This year’s theme, “Big Character Energy,” encouraged girls to feel protected, respected, and empowered in an ever-changing world. The program featured an inspiring lineup of speakers, including Dr. Jordyn Nordé, Desiree Coleman-Fry, Erica Watson-Tankins, Valeria Rodriguez, Therapist Amy Miller, and Coach Tiffany Spain, each sharing powerful messages on resilience, leadership, and self-worth. The day was brought to life by our dynamic host, Jessica “Jess Live” Anderson, who kept the energy high and the audience engaged throughout the celebration.
The Sophia Project extends heartfelt thanks to our volunteers, partners, educators, and mentors who made this celebration possible. We are proud to continue creating spaces that help every girl become the confident, capable, and empowered “HER” she is meant to be.
