On April 18th, 2026, The Sophia Project brought together nearly 30 young women and the women who care for them — mothers, aunts, neighbors, mentors — for a morning of rest, reflection, and real connection at the Bayer YMCA in St. Louis.
Self-Care Saturday is built as a women-only space to pour into the girls in our lives, whether she's your daughter, your niece, or a girl you've taken under your wing. This installment got everyone moving with line dancing, yoga, and step — activities chosen less for the workout and more for what happens when a teenager and the adult who shows up for her move through something together, side by side.
What made the morning special wasn't any single activity — it was the space itself: warm, safe, and intentional, where trust builds one step (and one dance move) at a time.
The Sophia Project will continue offering Self-Care Saturday as part of its ongoing programming for girls in grades 6–12 across the St. Louis area.
